Concerts / Special Events
- Cranberry House Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. [July 4]
- Audrey Noether and Friends Free Concert. [July 16]
- Ricky Baker Duo Free Concert. [July 30]
- Poetry Reading by Sam King. Sam kicks off her poetry workshop (see below) with a free evening of poetry reading. [July 23]
- Invitational Art Exhibit of the Cranberry Isles. A ten-day exhibit of local artworks. Opening day reception on August 2. All pieces are for sale; commission proceeds help support Cranberry House activities. [Aug 2 through 11]
- Acadian Chamber Players Free Concert. [August 13]
Childrens Events
- Children's Crafts with Charlotte Harlan. A three-day course for children. Each session is from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Cost of supplies, $15. [July 14, 15, 16]
Adult Workshops / Classes / Lectures
- Heliker-LaHotan Foundation Art Talks. Heliker-LaHotan Foundation Residents show images and informally talk about their work. Susan Demchak & Adu Gindy on June 25, and Kamilla Talbot, Michael Herstand, and Tim Ford on July 26
- Rock Walk & Talk with Douglas Reusch, Associate Professor at the University of Maine at Farmington. Doug will host an afternoon shore walk, starting at Cranberry House and visiting several interesting rock formations. Later that evening, he will give an explanatory lecture in Cranberry House about the island's geology, as seen on the walk. [July 5]
- "Great Cranberry Isles Pioneers: 1750s to Early 1800s" lecture by Charles Liebow [July 9]
- "Ways with Watercolor" Painting Workshop with Helen Bertles, Gail Cleveland, and Wini Smart. For beginning and intermediate painters, this four-session course taught by three accomplished local artists builds basic beginners' confidence, and helps hone accomplished artists' skills. Each session is from 10:30 am to 3 pm. Take lunch or eat at Hitty's Café. Full course of four sessions, $160; each individual session, $45. [July 18 and 25 both with Helen Bertles, August 15 with Wini Smart, 22 with Gail Cleveland]
- Digital Photography with Geoff Wadsworth & Bruce Komusin. An eight-hour course in July, repeated again in August. Geoff Wadsworth guides the group around the island, showing how to take beautiful eye-catching photos: one two-hour tour in morning light, and another in afternoon light. Each image-capturing tour is followed by a hands-on editing session at Cranberry House, where Bruce Komusin explains the theory and practice of using an image editing program, such as Gimp, or Adobe Photoshop Elements, to optimize and print out the images taken during the tour. Full course of 2 photo shoots and 2 editing sessions, $150; each individual 2-hour session, $37.50.

- "Playing with Words" Poetry Workshop with Sam King. Through excercises using evocative pictures, engaging in other arts, experience of nature, exploring word origins, writing in form, etc., enjoy the process of allowing words in particular patterns to express what, for you, is true, beautiful, and important. Full course of 5 sessions, $150; each individual 1.5- to 2-hour session, $30. [July 24, 31, August 7, 14, 21]
- "The Great Hollywood Musicals" with Paul Sofian. Paul will reveal little-known facts and tidbits about the stars and movies of the Hollywood golden era. Immediately following his talk, the movie musical "Top Hat" will be shown. [July 24]
- "1096 AD: An Ancient Pre-History of the Iraq War" lecture with Eugene Vance [July 29]
- "Memories of the Last Lighhouse Keeper of Bear Island", a talk by Guy Veillette, following the Historical Society's Annual Meeting [August 21]
- Cranberry Isles Historical Photos - slides and lecture by Janet and Wayne Patton, of the Southwest Harbor Historical Society. [August ??]
Movie Nights
- Most Monday nights at 7:30 pm, from June 16 through August.
