GREAT CRANBERRY ISLAND,
May 22 --Morris Peterson Alley, S.A.
U.S.N., 21, died early this week in
Portsmouth, Va.
He was born March 5, 1932 son
of Amaziah and Ruth (Peterson)
Alley of Cranberry Island. He en-
tered the Navy April 10, 1952 and
served aboard the USS Peregrine
whose home port is Norfolk, Va.
After taking basic training at Bain-
bridge, Md., he made several trips
to the Bahamas and Bermuda.
He is survived by his parents;
two brothers, Philmore of Cranberry
Island and Neil of Southwest Har-
bor; a sister, Mrs. Merritt H. Fitch
of Ellsworth; his grandfather, Josh-
ua Alley of Beals Island; a great-
grandmother, Mrs. Lucy Harding of
Beals Island; and aunts, uncles,
nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday at 2
o'clock at the Cranberry Island
Congregational church, Prof.
Charles Gordon Cummings of Ban-
gor, officiating. Military services
will be conducted at the cemetery
by Eugene M. Norwood Post, Amer-
ican Legion, Southwest Harbor.
